President’s message
Spring has arrived and the temperature is warming up — but isn’t the weather unstable? Some beautiful days and then back to winter, with snow on the hills and frosts at night. Mind you, it hasn’t stopped the lawns from growing! We have fenced the eastern south end boundary at the Club and planted the trees that will make the new hedge. On the northern end of the east boundary we have planted another variety, which should give us some changing colour.
The start of our citrus grove has also been planted and they seem to have survived the recent frosts. You will notice some larger rocks in the rose gardens, put there to stop a repeat performance by someone who drove over and smashed our roses to bit. I must say, that with Bill’s careful nursing, they are recovering well.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped with these projects — and for those who help in making your Club function in a better way for members. You all know who you are, so I will not put myself in that vulnerable position by forgetting anyone.
The ‘Together Again’ and ‘Queen’ shows saw good numbers attending. Feedback from those who attended was that they really enjoyed themselves. The Club is bringing back Luke Whaanga, New Zealand’s Idol winner again to you soon — so take the chance to come, see and listen to this incredible entertainer — and he’s a nice young kid as well. There’s also lots of other fantastic entertainment coming up, details of which are provided in this newsletter. So come along, have fun with your friends and enjoy a night out — there’s something for everyone!
Remember that if you have a function or farewell coming up, your Club has the facilities to cater for all requirements. Until the next newsletter — which is the last edition before Christmas — I wish you all well.
